Intern Intel (Season II): Curiosity to Code—Chapter 5
Join Abdur Rahman on his foray into MultiversX... and now, VibeOX.
Vibing with the Future: My First VibeOX Experience
Hey everyone! Welcome back to my Intern Intel Series. It’s been just a couple weeks since the Andromeda launch, and I’m already diving into something completely new and exciting.
Remember how I mentioned my mentor Lukas in the last post? Well, he threw me a challenge that I couldn’t resist. “Why don’t you document your experience with VibeOX?” he suggested. “It will be a great blog post – educational and fun.”
If you haven't heard about it yet, MultiversX recently unveiled VibeOX, their brand new web3 code generation platform powered by frontier AI. It's basically giving everyone the power to build apps without needing to be a coding expert. And today, I'm going to share my first-hand experience with it.
So what is VibeOX?
Before I jump into my experience, let me quickly explain what VibeOX actually is. Launched in early June 2025, VibeOX is MultiversX's answer to making blockchain development accessible to everyone.
It’s what they call a “web3 code-gen” platform that uses advanced AI to help you build applications on the MvX blockchain.
Vibe coding is this revolutionary approach where you essentially tell an AI what you want to build, and it generates the code for you. No more spending hours debugging or getting stuck on syntax errors!
Beniamin Mincu, the founder and CEO of MultiversX, described it as giving "every user the power to build" when he announced it. And that's exactly what it feels like—democratizing development for everyone, not just the coding experts.
Getting Started
When I first visited the VibeOX dashboard, I was greeted with a sleek, futuristic interface. The platform requires you to log in with something called a "Vibe Passport" app for security, which is available for both iPhone and Android.
The dashboard has several sections including VibeStudio (where the magic happens) and the Vibe Store. There's even Vibe FM, a music player built right into the interface to help you get into the right "vibe" while coding.
The Classics on VibeOX
What really excited me was seeing classic games available right on the platform. One game in particular stuck out to me: Doom. It was very similar to a game I used to play about 11-12 years back on my old Windows XP computer, though I can't quite recall the exact name. You know how it is with those classic shooters from the Windows XP era—there were so many great ones.
The game follows a space marine fighting through hordes of undead humans and invading demons, beginning on the moons of Mars and finishing in hell.
The Gaming Experience
What struck me immediately was how seamlessly the classic Doom experience translated to the VibeOX platform. The game retained all the elements that made it legendary, the fast-paced action, the atmospheric tension, and that unmistakable Doom aesthetic. It follows a space marine fighting through hordes of undead humans and invading demons, beginning on the moons of Mars and finishing in hell. It's widely considered one of the best and most influential video games of all time.
The controls felt responsive and familiar, maintaining the essence of what made Doom revolutionary in the first place. Even running on VibeOX, you can feel that same innovative spirit that made Doom such a groundbreaking experience when it was first released in the ‘90s.
Playing Doom on VibeOX gave me a unique perspective on how classic gaming experiences can be enhanced through modern blockchain infrastructure. The smooth gameplay showed me that this platform can handle real-time gaming without the performance issues you might expect from blockchain-based systems.
From Playing to Building: My First Attempts
After enjoying Doom for a while, I got curious about actually building something myself on VibeOX. The gaming experience had shown me how user-friendly the platform was. So I thought, why not give it a try?
Instead of jumping into something complex, I decided to start simple and work my way up. My first project was a basic tic-tac-toe game just to test how VibeOX handles simple game logic. I literally just typed "Create a simple tic-tac-toe game where players can click to place X or O" and watched the magic happen. The AI generated a clean, functional game with proper win detection and everything.
But here's where things got really exciting. Once I saw how easy it was, I decided to recreate some games from my childhood that brought back so many memories.
Building a Mario-Style Platformer
The next game I tackled was a Mario-style platformer. Mario games were incredibly popular in India back in the day, especially during the Windows XP era. Games like Super Mario Bros 3: Mario Forever and Mario XP were widely played on computers across the country.
For my VibeOX version, I kept it simple: "Create a Mario-style game which was widely played in India on computer back 10 years ago”. What amazed me was how the AI incorporated elements that made Mario games so beloved without having to go into any detail in the prompt. Of course, it didn’t come out exactly the same, but it was surprisingly similar in its game mechanics.
Vibe Surfing
Then I got really ambitious and decided to recreate one of my favorite mobile games from my childhood, something inspired by Subway Surfers. It was the most downloaded mobile game of the decade, with India accounting for more than 15% of its overall downloads. It was everywhere during my school years—literally every student had it on their phone.
I prompted VibeOX: "Build an endless runner game like Subway Surfers played in India” Although it was not the one I expected, at least it created a simple one for me literally without any specifications.
What This Experience Taught Me
What impressed me most about VibeOX was not just the nostalgic gaming experience, it was the accessibility of the platform. Instead of requiring users to dive into complex development tasks, VibeOX lets you start with familiar concepts and build up from there.
Playing games on VibeOX helped me understand how the platform handles different types of applications. And what’s cool about it: the underlying blockchain infrastructure makes ownership traceable even when you remix an existing game from the platform and opens many new doors for creators.
It reminded me of those days when Windows XP was cherished for its simplicity and nostalgic appeal, offering diverse gaming experiences. Just like how XP games were optimized for lightweight performance with simple controls and offline play, VibeOX maintains that same philosophy of making gaming accessible and enjoyable.
The traditional way of building this would involve:
Setting up a development environment
Creating a frontend with React or similar
Connecting everything with MultiversX SDKs
Testing and debugging for hours
But with VibeOX? You can literally just type what you want.
The Learning Curve
VibeOX doesn’t just generate code—it explains what it's doing and why. It’s almost like having a senior developer sitting next to you, walking you through each decision. For someone like me who's still learning, this is an invaluable experience. I can see how the application is structured and how the different parts connect.
My experience with VibeOX has given me a solid foundation for understanding what the platform can do. It's shown me that blockchain gaming doesn't have to sacrifice quality or performance for innovation.
Key Takeaways:
VibeOX provides an accessible entry point to blockchain development through familiar gaming experiences.
The platform can handle everything from simple tic-tac-toe games to more complex ones.
AI-assisted development makes it possible to recreate childhood gaming favorites without any coding knowledge.
Starting with simple projects builds confidence and understanding for more complex blockchain development.
The platform successfully bridges nostalgia and innovation, making blockchain technology approachable for everyone.
Final Thoughts
Often, the best way to understand new technology is not by engaging with familiar experiences in new contexts. Playing a game on VibeOX gave me exactly that, a comfortable entry point into a sophisticated blockchain coding platform.
It took me back to those Windows XP days when gaming was all about simple fun and engaging adventures. Now, with VibeOX, we're getting that same nostalgic feel but with the power of modern blockchain technology behind it.
Thanks for joining me for Chapter 5! My journey with VibeOX is just beginning, and I'm excited to continue exploring what this platform has to offer.
What classic games from your Windows XP days would you want to see on blockchain platforms? Have you tried any blockchain gaming experiences yet? Let me know in the comments!
Until then,
