Intern Intel (Season II): Curiosity to Code—Chapter 4
Join Abdur Rahman on his foray into MultiversX.
A Big Day
Hello everyone! Welcome to Chapter 4 of my Intern Intel series.
It’s Friday as I’m putting these thoughts together, and honestly, I’m still processing everything that happened on May 28th. The Andromeda launch wasn’t like the routine updates most blockchains do. It felt like the whole MvX ecosystem hit a new level. I remember following all the announcements, reading the updates, and seeing the excitement ripple through the community.
Even now, a couple of days later, I can’t imagine how much work went into this moment: months of planning, thousands of engineering hours, and a real sense of anticipation building up to the big day. MultiversX officially launched Andromeda on mainnet.
But here’s the thing; it wasn’t just any ordinary blockchain upgrade rollout. This was a party.
16:58 UTC
Picture this: You’re on a beautifully designed website with robots, rockets, and countdown timers. The whole MultiversX community is gathering online, watching as little animated robots start moving around a rocket ship, getting ready for something special. At exactly 16:58 UTC on May 28th, everything changed.
The Andromeda upgrade, representing over 2 years of work, 9,000+ engineering hours, and 51,500+ lines of new code, went live. But instead of just flipping a switch and calling it a day, the team created something I’ve never seen in blockchain before: a proper launch celebration.
More Than Just an Upgrade
May 28th was about more than just technical progress like one-shot finality and all 400 validators working together (which is pretty awesome on its own). What stood out to me was how the whole community came together to celebrate. I spent some time in the YouTube chat and saw people sharing their reactions.
One of the best parts of the launch was that everyone who joined could mint a special NFT to remember the Andromeda upgrade. It’s like a digital badge that proves you were there for MultiversX’s biggest moment since the mainnet went live in 2020.
The minting process was seamlessly integrated into the launch experience. Connect your wallet, test the new lightning-fast network, and boom!, you've got a piece of blockchain history sitting in your MultiversX wallet.
People were spamming emojis in the chat, also showing off their new Andromeda “Andrian” NFTs in group chats, and even changing their profile pictures on X to mark the occasion.
Even Beniamin Mincu changed his X account name to 'Andromedius' and updated his profile picture to the minted NFT. This shows the effort the team put into this upgrade. The excitement was everywhere, and even now, days later, people are still talking about it. It really felt like a shared milestone for everyone involved.
The launch party website did more than just share news and technical details. It let people jump in and take part. Think about it—when was the last time a major tech upgrade felt like a celebration rather than a maintenance window?
What This Says About MultiversX's Vision
What really stood out to me about May 28th was that, just the day before on the 27th, my xAlliance mentor Lukas had mentioned in our private chat that they had some cool plans lined up. But this exceeded my expectations.
Most blockchain projects announce upgrades through blog posts and technical documentation. Important? Absolutely. Engaging with regular people? Not so much.
But turning a major network upgrade into an interactive celebration? That's how you bridge the gap between blockchain tech and something people actually want to be part of.
The Ripple Effects Are Just Beginning
With Andromeda now live, we’re seeing immediate benefits:
One-shot finality makes transactions instantly final and more reliable
Enhanced security with all 400 validators participating
Faster cross-shard transactions improving the overall user experience
But beyond the technical improvements, the launch day proved something bigger: blockchain upgrades don’t have to be intimidating technical events. They can be celebrations of progress, community moments, and genuinely fun experiences.
Looking Forward: What's Comes After the Party
The launch party might be over, but the Andromeda era is just beginning. With this foundation in place, the entire MultiversX ecosystem from NFT marketplaces to DeFi applications now operates on a faster, more secure network.
And remember, I said in my previous blog that the Andromeda is setting the stage for Supernova, the next major upgrade that promises to push performance even further.
If yesterday’s launch party is anything to go by, the next event will be just as exciting. The momentum is only building from here!
Final Thoughts
The Andromeda launch turned a technical milestone into a shared community experience. Thousands joined in, celebrated together, and took home a digital keepsake. For me, this showed how real progress happens when innovation and community energy combine.
Key Takeaways:
Andromeda launched on May 28th with a community celebration, not just a technical rollout.
The interactive launch party let people mint commemorative NFTs while testing the upgraded network.
This approach showed how blockchain upgrades can be engaging community moments
With instant finality and enhanced security now live, the entire ecosystem benefits.
Thanks for joining me for Chapter 4! The Andromeda era has officially begun, and I'm excited to see what comes next.
What did you think of the launch party approach? Drop a comment or reach out—I'd love to hear your thoughts on making blockchain more celebratory and community-focused.
See you soon,
